The marathon course at the Tokyo Marathon 2023 symbolises the past, present and the future of Tokyo. The race starts in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and ends at the Tokyo Station. The city race covers the different districts of Tokyo – Shinjuku, Suidobashi, Kanda, Nihombashi, Asakusa Kaminarimon Gatena, Ryogoku, Monzen-nakacho, Ginza, Tamachi, Hibiya and Tokyo Station/Gyoko-dori Ave. We will catch a glimpse of the Tokyo Tower, see the packed crowd of supporters in front of Tokyo’s oldest temple, Senso-ji, in Asakusa, and feel the positive energy of the volunteers & supporters throughout the whole marathon route. This new race course is generally flat and fast, and the marathon will finish next to the Imperial Palace. At the 2021 edition, Eliud Kipchoge came close to the world record, and we think this course will see many runners setting personal best times, and possibly a world record set on this course.
It is indeed the biggest race in Asia, one of the best-organized events in the world, and worthy of its status as one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. It will be held on Sunday 5th March 2023.
