The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Majors Candidate, and the event will most likely be the 8th World Marathon Major in 2026. They are on a mission to put Cape Town, the African continent, its iconic marathon champions and its magnificently diverse cultures on the world stage.
Running in this event is a way to experience the cultural highlights and the uniquely vibrant spirit of one of Africa's most visited cities. Arguably the most beautiful marathon route in the world.
This event will be held on Sunday 19th October 2025.
THURSDAY 16 OCT 2025
Morning arrival in Cape Town.
Early check-in as available or baggage drop
Walk and explore the V&A Waterfront, eat out for lunch
Free & Easy for the rest of the day
FRIDAY 17 OCT 2025
After breakfast, we will take a short walk to the Marathon Expo
Pick up your race bib and explore the stalls before making you way back to the hotel
Free & Easy for the rest of the day
In the evening, welcome reception and enjoy drinks and substantial snacks with runners around the world
SATURDAY 18 OCT 2025
Morning run along the harbour and Sea Point Promenade
Breakfast at the hotel
Complimentary Hop-on Hop-off sightseeing tour of the city and surrounding areas
Free & Easy for the rest of the day
Marathon eve paste dinner
SUNDAY 19 OCT 2025 (RACE DAY)
Early breakfast at the hotel
Take a walk to the Start line at the stadium
After the race, recharge in the finish village, International Tent.
Rest & recover in your room or explore the waterfront
Post-race celebrations

Sleep in or do your own recovery run
Check-out and safe journey to your next destination
