The 2026 SHANGHAI MARATHON, a prestigious World Athletic Platinum Label race, is a candidate for the World Marathon Majors.  The race starts at the Bund and finishes at the Shanghai Stadium. It is a very well-organised event, and is on track to join the rest of the World Marathon Majors in 2027. 

This race will be held on Sunday 6th December 2026.

THURSDAY 03 DEC 2026

Morning arrival in Shanghai International Airport, and take the airport shuttle service or cab to the hotel
Early check-in as available or baggage drop; walk and explore the hotel’s surrounding area, eat out for lunch, or head out for an easy jog along the river to refresh your blood circulation after the long-haul flight
Free and easy for the rest of the day

FRIDAY 04 DEC 2026

Morning run along the Bund
Guided trip to the Race Expo for the Race Pack collection (via public transport)

SATURDAY 05 DEC 2026

Optional 5k, or an easy shake-out run
Move on freely from there or take a leisurely walk back to the hotel
Marathon eve carbo-loading dinner 

SUNDAY 06 DEC 2026 (RACE DAY)

Meet up at the hotel and head for the start line together
Enjoy a terrific marathon while we wish you the best for a race of your lifetime
After crossing the finish line, take an easy walk back to the hotel
Choice of resting in the hotel or replenishing your energy in one of the nearby restaurants while sharing first hand your experience and excitement with your partners and running peers

MONDAY 07 DEC 2026

Sleep in or recovery run along the Bund
Check out and head for the airport to catch the flight home or to your next destination
